The administration department looks after the payment of the wages, including overtime wages, bonus and leave wages, the operation of benefits like the ESI and EPF, the attendance and adherence to working hours by the employees, etc.
Purchase
The raw materials are purchased according to requirement from the villages around the property of LSS from the farmers who cultivate these for sale, from the traditional herb collectors from the Sirumalai and Kodaikanal hills and from the tribal communities involved in the cultivation and collection of the medicinal plants.
Quality Control
To ensure the unsullied purity and uncompromising quality of the products LSS maintains a laboratory and a team of professionals engaged in the checking and analysing of the quality of the raw materials purchased and the products ready for packing. Neither a substitute nor an alternative is allowed to be used in place of the specified ingredient.
Cleaning and Purification:
All the raw materials are cleaned thoroughly after they are procured and quality-checked after cleaning. All the utensils, vessels, etc. are cleansed and dried properly before and after each usage.
Production
The manufacturing process is scientifically executed, strictly in accordance with the authentic prescriptions, by experienced workers under the strict supervision of medical professionals. There are separate units for different methods like steam vessels, kalvam, pudam, etc. All the individual sub-processes are continuously monitored from start to finish using visual inspection systems and individualised recording of process parameters.
Packing and Forwarding
The finished products are packed properly and placed in a dust-free storage room. On receipt of orders, either from the Government facilities or from private dealers and users, these are bundle-packed and despatched. Careful calibration and validation of the packing machinery including the weighing and measuring instruments are regularly done and over-checked. Imprinting of the batch number, date of manufacture and retail price is also done.
Marketing
The marketing department coordinates and supervises participations in exhibitions and sales promotion camps for traditional Siddha vaidyas, Siddha doctors, Siddha and Ayurveda Medical College students and others engaged in the marketing of LSS products. They also conduct capacity building programmes for Self Help Group members and prepare advertisements over the print and electronic media.
Consultation
Free medical camps and free consultation camps are organised by the consultation department to popularise and promote the products and to help in the sales growth and outreach of the rural sales representatives.
