

Sowbhagya Illam is a rehabilitation centre for destitute children, founded by Dr. Soundram in 1947 itself. The aim of the Illam is to free destitute children from hunger and ignorance and to rehabilitate them in the mainstream society as self-sustaining citizens. At present 150 children are being cared for. LSS has been supporting the Illam from its very inception as its sister concern.
Self Help Groups who are willing to cooperate with the Sangham in collecting raw materials for the production of medicines and in marketing the products in their areas are given all help and remuneration for this cooperation and the members of such SHGs are given free training for the identification, cultivation and collection of herbs and for the marketing of the products.
Free medical treatment programmes have been initiated in rural areas. With the aid of Help Age India, a free Siddha &Ayurvedic Medical Camp for the elderly people was organized at the residential centre, a model residential accommodation for the elderly people developed by Help Age India.
Under “Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries” (SFURTI), training to the tribal community and other medicinal plant collectors will be given for the next 5 years. This scheme will be implemented in Athoor, Nilakottai, Kodaikanal blocks of Dindigul district and Andipatti block of Theni District
